Love Is ...?

Life can be hard if you feel unloved
It is very unlikely that you will go through life without being hurt or let down by some of those you love. Many young people have already experienced the pain caused by divorce, broken homes, abuse, poverty etc. It is understandable that many people feel a longing to be truely loved - loved in a way that human love just isn't capable of because humans are imperfect and make mistakes.

But guess what, there is hope! There is a way for you to be loved unconditionally, no matter what you do. There is one who loves you more than you thought possible. One who's love is eternal and perfect. There is someone who will never ever let you down or hurt you. Someone who loves you as a father who will never leave you and loves you totally and unconditionally! Don't you think that sounds great? Don't you think that that's something to grab hold of and not miss out on?

Well, here's the best bit - you can! That person is God and he wants you to know how much he loves you. You don't have to earn his love - he gives it freely. All you have to do is ask.

God loves YOU!
This is some descriptive text.
  Why does God love me?
You might be wondering how the creator of the universe and everything in it could possibly love someone as "small, insignificant and imperfect" as you. Well, the very fact that he created you is a good enough reason! Did you know that God designed you and put you together in your mother's womb - He knew exactly how he wanted you to turn out. He knows more about you than you know about yourself - because he made you. He knows how you are feeling and what you think about.

God loves you this much ...
As I mentioned earlier, humans are not perfect - far from it in fact (just take a look around you at all the suffering caused by human inperfection). The bible says "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3 v 23). This means that because we are sinful (we do things which are against God), we cannot enter God's presence - because he is holy and anything that is unholy/sinful cannot be associated with Him.

The thing is, in order for us to be made holy, a sacrifice had to be paid so that our sin and guilt could be paid for. The price to be paid was death. (see Romans 6 v23) So, God came up with a plan, because he wanted to be able to have a relationship with you (and me and everyone else)!

God has paid the price!
God's plan went like this. He loves us so much that he was willing to give his son as a sacrifice for us. Jesus, God's son, was willing to give his life and suffer the agony and death that we deserved. He took our place and paid the price for us, so that we could be forgiven for all of the wrong things that we have done, and so that we can enter God's presence as members of his family.

Because of the price that Jesus paid, we can call God our "Father" and we can have a close and personal relationship with him. All we have to do is accept the gift of His forgiveness and commit our lives into his hands. He is the best father you could ever hope for and he will take care of you forever. Even if you mess up, which is inevitable, He will still love you and forgive you because you are His child. He will never leave your side and he will never let you down.

Doesn't that sound better than any love you could ever hope for? Don't miss out on it. Don't reject the free gift that God is offering you.
